THE KOTTAYAM BAR ASSOCIATION IS ONE OF THE OLDEST ASSOCIATION ACROSS KERALA.

The Kottayam Bar Association, the predecessor of the present Bar Association, Kottayam was formed at about this period. The present Bar Association was registered in 1958 as successor to the former Kottayam Bar Association. The Kottayam Bar Association is presently having it´s premises at the Kottayam Collectorate which was allotted to the Association by His Highness Maharaja of Travancore in the year 1087 M.E.in recognition of the high caliber of its members.

The Kottayam Bar Association has contributed most eminent and renowned Judges who are well known for their practical knowledge of the law as well as juristic vision. Eminent former Justice K.K.Mathew, Justice K.T.Thomas and Justice K.G.Balakrishnan the yester year members of the Bar Association are among the judges who proved their mettle as the most outstanding and brilliant judges of the paramount judicial body of the country, the Supreme Court of India.

Since its inception, the Kottayam Bar Association has stood at the forefront of efforts to uphold democratic values, the rule of law, and the independence of the judiciary.
